This was a really fun science/art project we did in my class. (Sorry I don't have any class photos to go with it :( ) But here is what we did. My kids love to paint but like all things, it somehow always ends up in their mouths. So I decided we'd make our own water colors and they would get to help!

We froze water colors into small cubes of ice. We used a thick canvas type paper for them to draw on. It was really cute how they had to figure out how to use the cubes to color with. Thursday, a teacher from the twos classroom stopped by to tell me just how much one of my littles ADORED and LOVED me. It was a bit over their heads but they loved it anyway. The story was more appropriate for them as the illustration captivated them. We have set out a variety of bug books with colorful illustrations. We have so far made paper plate ladybugs and pom pom caterpillars. We also have, what we call in childcare, sick days. Sick days are unique in that each teacher takes them as they need them. Today was my sick day.  I watched a few of my little ones spend over 40 minutes playing with boxes instead of the toys, balls and push cars on the playground. They used the boxes for all sorts of games, they used it as a tunnel, as a boat, just a place to kick back in with a friend and hide 'n' seek.
